Situated in Ambaguio, Nueva Vizcaya, Barangay Poblacion is one of 8 barangays that make up the municipality within Cagayan Valley.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Poblacion had a population of 2,953. This made it the 1st largest of 8 barangays in Ambaguio by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion accounted for approximately 19.09% of the total population of Ambaguio, which stood at 15,472 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Poblacion changed from 2,758 to 2,953, a shift of +7.1% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Ambaguio. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Poblacion as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Ambaguio is a municipality comprising 8 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
