Barangay Macabug

Situated in Aroroy, Masbate, Barangay Macabug is one of 41 barangays that make up the municipality within Bicol Region.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Macabug had a population of 1,084. This made it the 35th largest of 41 barangays in Aroroy by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Macabug accounted for approximately 1.23% of the total population of Aroroy, which stood at 88,351 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,089 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,084 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -0.5%, consistent with a broadly stable settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Macabug as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Aroroy is a municipality comprising 41 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Macabug, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
