Barangay Matongog

Situated in Aroroy, Masbate, Barangay Matongog is one of 41 barangays that make up the municipality within Bicol Region.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Matongog had a population of 1,357. This made it the 28th largest of 41 barangays in Aroroy by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Matongog accounted for approximately 1.54% of the total population of Aroroy, which stood at 88,351 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Matongog changed from 1,405 to 1,357, a shift of -3.4% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Aroroy. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Matongog as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Aroroy is a municipality comprising 41 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Matongog, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
