Barangay Ponon

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Ponon is one of the administrative divisions of Atimonan in Quezon, CALABARZON, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Ponon had a population of 1,202. This made it the 21st largest of 42 barangays in Atimonan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Ponon accounted for approximately 1.87% of the total population of Atimonan, which stood at 64,260 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,369 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,202 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -12.2%, consistent with a contracting settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Ponon as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Atimonan is a municipality comprising 42 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Ponon, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
