Barangay Kahayagan West

Barangay Kahayagan West is a small barangay in the municipality of Aurora, located in the province of Zamboanga Del Sur, in the Zamboanga Peninsula region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Kahayagan West had a population of 846. This made it the 25th largest of 44 barangays in Aurora by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Kahayagan West accounted for approximately 1.60% of the total population of Aurora, which stood at 52,995 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 815 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 846 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +3.8%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Kahayagan West as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Aurora is a municipality comprising 44 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Kahayagan West, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
