Situated in Aurora, Zamboanga Del Sur, Barangay Poblacion is one of 44 barangays that make up the municipality within Zamboanga Peninsula.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Poblacion had a population of 6,901. This made it the 1st largest of 44 barangays in Aurora by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion accounted for approximately 13.02% of the total population of Aurora, which stood at 52,995 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Poblacion moving from 6,851 residents to 6,901 residents, an intercensal change of +0.7%. The trajectory indicates a slowly expanding community.
