Barangay Maputi

Barangay Maputi forms part of Banaybanay, a municipality in Davao Oriental, and is classified as a mid-sized barangay.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Maputi had a population of 4,102. This made it the 3rd largest of 14 barangays in Banaybanay by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Maputi accounted for approximately 9.23% of the total population of Banaybanay, which stood at 44,451 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Maputi moving from 4,017 residents to 4,102 residents, an intercensal change of +2.1%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Maputi is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Banaybanay is a municipality comprising 14 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Maputi, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
