Barangay Panikian

Barangay Panikian is a mid-sized barangay in the municipality of Banaybanay, located in the province of Davao Oriental, in the Davao Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Panikian had a population of 3,183. This made it the 6th largest of 14 barangays in Banaybanay by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Panikian accounted for approximately 7.16% of the total population of Banaybanay, which stood at 44,451 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Panikian moving from 2,790 residents to 3,183 residents, an intercensal change of +14.1%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Panikian as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Banaybanay is a municipality comprising 14 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Panikian, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
