Barangay General Prim West

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay General Prim West is one of the administrative divisions of Bangar in La Union, Ilocos Region, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay General Prim West had a population of 1,605. This made it the 4th largest of 33 barangays in Bangar by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay General Prim West accounted for approximately 4.22% of the total population of Bangar, which stood at 38,041 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,509 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,605 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +6.4%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay General Prim West as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Bangar is a municipality comprising 33 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay General Prim West, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of La Union, which contains 576 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay General Prim West ranks 166th by 2020 population.
