Barangay Benticayan

Situated in Baras, Catanduanes, Barangay Benticayan is one of 29 barangays that make up the municipality within Bicol Region.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Benticayan had a population of 763. This made it the 6th largest of 29 barangays in Baras by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Benticayan accounted for approximately 5.66% of the total population of Baras, which stood at 13,484 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 787 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 763 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -3.0%, consistent with a contracting settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Benticayan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Baras is a municipality comprising 29 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Benticayan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Catanduanes, which contains 315 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Benticayan ranks 144th by 2020 population.
