Barangay Cancaiyas

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Cancaiyas is one of the administrative divisions of Basey in Samar, Eastern Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Cancaiyas had a population of 607. This made it the 39th largest of 51 barangays in Basey by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Cancaiyas accounted for approximately 1.07% of the total population of Basey, which stood at 56,685 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Cancaiyas changed from 575 to 607, a shift of +5.6% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Basey. Barangay Cancaiyas is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Basey is a municipality comprising 51 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Cancaiyas, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
