Barangay Nouvelas Occidental

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Nouvelas Occidental is one of the administrative divisions of Basey in Samar, Eastern Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Nouvelas Occidental had a population of 1,294. This made it the 20th largest of 51 barangays in Basey by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Nouvelas Occidental accounted for approximately 2.28% of the total population of Basey, which stood at 56,685 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,270 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,294 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +1.9%, consistent with a slowly expanding settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Nouvelas Occidental as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Basey is a municipality comprising 51 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Nouvelas Occidental, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
