Barangay Poblacion

Situated in Belison, Antique, Barangay Poblacion is one of 11 barangays that make up the municipality within Western Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Poblacion had a population of 4,504. This made it the 1st largest of 11 barangays in Belison by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion accounted for approximately 31.88% of the total population of Belison, which stood at 14,129 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 4,503 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 4,504 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of 0.0%, consistent with a slowly expanding settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Poblacion as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Belison is a municipality comprising 11 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Antique, which contains 590 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Poblacion ranks 7th by 2020 population. Antique is classified as a 2nd by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.
