Barangay Bao-yan

Barangay Bao-yan is a small barangay in the municipality of Boliney, located in the province of Abra, in the CAR region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Bao-yan had a population of 617. This made it the 3rd largest of 8 barangays in Boliney by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bao-yan accounted for approximately 13.56% of the total population of Boliney, which stood at 4,551 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 502 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 617 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +22.9%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Bao-yan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Boliney is a municipality comprising 8 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Bao-yan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Abra, which contains 303 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Bao-yan ranks 168th by 2020 population.
