Barangay San Miguel

Barangay San Miguel is a small barangay in the municipality of Botolan, located in the province of Zambales, in the Central Luzon region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay San Miguel had a population of 1,518. This made it the 13th largest of 31 barangays in Botolan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay San Miguel accounted for approximately 2.27% of the total population of Botolan, which stood at 66,739 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay San Miguel moving from 1,355 residents to 1,518 residents, an intercensal change of +12.0%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay San Miguel as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Botolan is a municipality comprising 31 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay San Miguel, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Zambales, which contains 247 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay San Miguel ranks 143rd by 2020 population.
