Barangay Poblacion Sur

Classified as a very small barangay, Barangay Poblacion Sur is one of the administrative divisions of Burgos in Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Region, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Poblacion Sur had a population of 196. This made it the 24th largest of 26 barangays in Burgos by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion Sur accounted for approximately 1.53% of the total population of Burgos, which stood at 12,793 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Poblacion Sur changed from 180 to 196, a shift of +8.9% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Burgos. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Poblacion Sur as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Burgos is a municipality comprising 26 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion Sur, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
