Barangay El Progreso

Situated in Buruanga, Aklan, Barangay El Progreso is one of 15 barangays that make up the municipality within Western Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay El Progreso had a population of 1,080. This made it the 10th largest of 15 barangays in Buruanga by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay El Progreso accounted for approximately 5.58% of the total population of Buruanga, which stood at 19,357 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay El Progreso moving from 1,147 residents to 1,080 residents, an intercensal change of -5.8%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay El Progreso as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Buruanga is a municipality comprising 15 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay El Progreso, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
