Barangay Calawagan

Situated in Cabatuan, Iloilo, Barangay Calawagan is one of 68 barangays that make up the municipality within Western Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Calawagan had a population of 334. This made it the 61st largest of 68 barangays in Cabatuan by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Calawagan accounted for approximately 0.55% of the total population of Cabatuan, which stood at 61,110 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 312 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 334 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +7.1%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Calawagan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Cabatuan is a municipality comprising 68 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Calawagan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
