Situated in Calatrava, Romblon, Barangay Poblacion is one of 7 barangays that make up the municipality within MIMAROPA Region.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Poblacion had a population of 1,764. This made it the 3rd largest of 7 barangays in Calatrava by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion accounted for approximately 15.55% of the total population of Calatrava, which stood at 11,342 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,746 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,764 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +1.0%, consistent with a slowly expanding settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Poblacion as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
