Barangay Abanilla

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Abanilla is one of the administrative divisions of Calubian in Leyte, Eastern Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Abanilla had a population of 773. This made it the 12th largest of 53 barangays in Calubian by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Abanilla accounted for approximately 2.44% of the total population of Calubian, which stood at 31,646 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 755 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 773 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +2.4%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Abanilla is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Calubian is a municipality comprising 53 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Abanilla, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Leyte, which contains 1,641 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Abanilla ranks 829th by 2020 population.
