Situated in Calumpit, Bulacan, Barangay Buguion is one of 29 barangays that make up the municipality within Central Luzon.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Buguion had a population of 3,841. This made it the 14th largest of 29 barangays in Calumpit by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Buguion accounted for approximately 3.24% of the total population of Calumpit, which stood at 118,471 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Buguion changed from 3,296 to 3,841, a shift of +16.5% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Calumpit. Barangay Buguion is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Calumpit is a municipality comprising 29 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Buguion, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
