Barangay Pitogo

Situated in Cataingan, Masbate, Barangay Pitogo is one of 36 barangays that make up the municipality within Bicol Region.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Pitogo had a population of 769. This made it the 30th largest of 36 barangays in Cataingan by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Pitogo accounted for approximately 1.52% of the total population of Cataingan, which stood at 50,623 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Pitogo changed from 1,062 to 769, a shift of -27.6% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Cataingan. Barangay Pitogo is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Cataingan is a municipality comprising 36 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Pitogo, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Masbate, which contains 550 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Pitogo ranks 448th by 2020 population.
