Situated in Catanauan, Quezon, Barangay Catumbo is one of 46 barangays that make up the municipality within CALABARZON.

This made it the 29th largest of 46 barangays in Catanauan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. The barangay recorded 1,006 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,036 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +3.0%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Catumbo is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
