Barangay Doongan Ilaya

Barangay Doongan Ilaya is a mid-sized barangay in the municipality of Catanauan, located in the province of Quezon, in the CALABARZON region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Doongan Ilaya had a population of 2,388. This made it the 7th largest of 46 barangays in Catanauan by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Doongan Ilaya accounted for approximately 3.28% of the total population of Catanauan, which stood at 72,752 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 2,398 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 2,388 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -0.4%, consistent with a broadly stable settlement. Barangay Doongan Ilaya is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Catanauan is a municipality comprising 46 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Doongan Ilaya, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Quezon, which contains 1,242 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Doongan Ilaya ranks 240th by 2020 population. Barangay Doongan Ilaya is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
