Barangay Hinatad

Situated in Catarman, Northern Samar, Barangay Hinatad is one of 55 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Hinatad had a population of 1,240. This made it the 32nd largest of 55 barangays in Catarman by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Hinatad accounted for approximately 1.27% of the total population of Catarman, which stood at 97,879 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Hinatad changed from 1,217 to 1,240, a shift of +1.9% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with slowly expanding populations in Catarman. Barangay Hinatad is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Catarman is a municipality comprising 55 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Hinatad, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Northern Samar, which contains 569 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Hinatad ranks 183rd by 2020 population.
