Barangay New Rizal

Situated in Catarman, Northern Samar, Barangay New Rizal is one of 55 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay New Rizal had a population of 1,245. This made it the 31st largest of 55 barangays in Catarman by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay New Rizal accounted for approximately 1.27% of the total population of Catarman, which stood at 97,879 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,241 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,245 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +0.3%, consistent with a slowly expanding settlement. Barangay New Rizal is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Catarman is a municipality comprising 55 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay New Rizal, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Northern Samar, which contains 569 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay New Rizal ranks 182nd by 2020 population.
