Barangay 5 (Pob.)

Situated in Catubig, Northern Samar, Barangay 5 (Pob.) is one of 47 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay 5 (Pob.) had a population of 314. This made it the 39th largest of 47 barangays in Catubig by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay 5 (Pob.) accounted for approximately 0.98% of the total population of Catubig, which stood at 32,174 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay 5 (Pob.) changed from 367 to 314, a shift of -14.4% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Catubig. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay 5 (Pob.) as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Catubig is a municipality comprising 47 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay 5 (Pob.), including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Northern Samar, which contains 569 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay 5 (Pob.) ranks 521st by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
