Barangay Poblacion

Barangay Poblacion is a mid-sized barangay in the municipality of Cawayan, located in the province of Masbate, in the Bicol Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Poblacion had a population of 4,311. This made it the 2nd largest of 37 barangays in Cawayan by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion accounted for approximately 6.22% of the total population of Cawayan, which stood at 69,265 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Poblacion moving from 3,915 residents to 4,311 residents, an intercensal change of +10.1%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Poblacion is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Cawayan is a municipality comprising 37 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. The next BSKE is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, following the synchronized election schedule set by COMELEC Resolution No. 11191.
