Barangay Marcelina

Barangay Marcelina is a mid-sized barangay in the City of Bayugan, located in the province of Agusan Del Sur, in the Caraga region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Marcelina had a population of 3,900. This made it the 9th largest of 43 barangays in City of Bayugan by population, placing it in the upper half of the city. Residents of Barangay Marcelina accounted for approximately 3.56% of the total population of City of Bayugan, which stood at 109,499 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Marcelina moving from 3,789 residents to 3,900 residents, an intercensal change of +2.9%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Marcelina is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Bayugan is a city comprising 43 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Marcelina, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
