Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Salvacion changed from 5,886 to 5,568, a shift of -5.4% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in City of Bayugan. Barangay Salvacion is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Bayugan is a city comprising 43 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Salvacion, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
