Barangay Santa Irene

Barangay Santa Irene is a mid-sized barangay in the City of Bayugan, located in the province of Agusan Del Sur, in the Caraga region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Santa Irene had a population of 4,570. This made it the 7th largest of 43 barangays in City of Bayugan by population, placing it in the upper half of the city. Residents of Barangay Santa Irene accounted for approximately 4.17% of the total population of City of Bayugan, which stood at 109,499 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Santa Irene changed from 3,651 to 4,570, a shift of +25.2% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in City of Bayugan. Barangay Santa Irene is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Bayugan is a city comprising 43 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Santa Irene, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Agusan Del Sur, which contains 314 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Santa Irene ranks 37th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
