Barangay Mangagoy

Situated in City of Bislig, Surigao Del Sur, Barangay Mangagoy is one of 24 barangays that make up the city within Caraga.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Mangagoy had a population of 30,541. This made it the 1st largest of 24 barangays in City of Bislig by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay Mangagoy accounted for approximately 30.76% of the total population of City of Bislig, which stood at 99,290 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 32,464 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 30,541 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -5.9%, consistent with a contracting settlement. Barangay Mangagoy is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Bislig is a city comprising 24 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Mangagoy, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Surigao Del Sur, which contains 309 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Mangagoy ranks 1st by 2020 population. Surigao Del Sur is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

Like every Philippine barangay, Barangay Mangagoy is led by an elected Punong Barangay (barangay captain) supported by seven Sangguniang Barangay members (kagawads), an SK Chairperson, a Barangay Secretary, and a Barangay Treasurer. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
