Barangay Alang-alang

Situated in City of Borongan, Eastern Samar, Barangay Alang-alang is one of 61 barangays that make up the city within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Alang-alang had a population of 1,822. This made it the 12th largest of 61 barangays in City of Borongan by population, placing it in the upper half of the city. Residents of Barangay Alang-alang accounted for approximately 2.53% of the total population of City of Borongan, which stood at 71,961 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 2,062 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,822 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -11.6%, consistent with a contracting settlement. Barangay Alang-alang is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Borongan is a city comprising 61 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Alang-alang, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Eastern Samar, which contains 597 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Alang-alang ranks 45th by 2020 population. The next BSKE is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, following the synchronized election schedule set by COMELEC Resolution No. 11191.
