Barangay Bitas

Barangay Bitas forms part of City of Cabanatuan, a city in Nueva Ecija, and is classified as a large barangay.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Bitas had a population of 5,513. This made it the 19th largest of 89 barangays in City of Cabanatuan by population, placing it in the upper half of the city. Residents of Barangay Bitas accounted for approximately 1.68% of the total population of City of Cabanatuan, which stood at 327,325 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 5,779 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 5,513 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -4.6%, consistent with a contracting settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Bitas as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Cabanatuan is a city comprising 89 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Bitas, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Nueva Ecija, which contains 849 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Bitas ranks 83rd by 2020 population. Barangay Bitas is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
