Barangay Tibag

Situated in City of Calapan, Oriental Mindoro, Barangay Tibag is one of 62 barangays that make up the city within MIMAROPA Region.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Tibag had a population of 2,414. This made it the 28th largest of 62 barangays in City of Calapan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the city. Residents of Barangay Tibag accounted for approximately 1.66% of the total population of City of Calapan, which stood at 145,786 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Tibag changed from 2,441 to 2,414, a shift of -1.1% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with broadly stable populations in City of Calapan. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Tibag as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Calapan is a city comprising 62 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Tibag, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Oriental Mindoro, which contains 426 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Tibag ranks 134th by 2020 population. Like every Philippine barangay, Barangay Tibag is led by an elected Punong Barangay (barangay captain) supported by seven Sangguniang Barangay members (kagawads), an SK Chairperson, a Barangay Secretary, and a Barangay Treasurer. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
