Barangay Paypayad

Barangay Paypayad is a mid-sized barangay in the City of Candon, located in the province of Ilocos Sur, in the Ilocos Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Paypayad had a population of 2,386. This made it the 7th largest of 42 barangays in City of Candon by population, placing it in the upper half of the city. Residents of Barangay Paypayad accounted for approximately 3.88% of the total population of City of Candon, which stood at 61,432 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Paypayad changed from 2,402 to 2,386, a shift of -0.7% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with broadly stable populations in City of Candon. Barangay Paypayad is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Candon is a city comprising 42 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Paypayad, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Ilocos Sur, which contains 768 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Paypayad ranks 25th by 2020 population.
