Barangay San Nicolas

Barangay San Nicolas is a large barangay in the City of Gapan, located in the province of Nueva Ecija, in the Central Luzon region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay San Nicolas had a population of 13,142. This made it the 2nd largest of 23 barangays in City of Gapan by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay San Nicolas accounted for approximately 10.69% of the total population of City of Gapan, which stood at 122,968 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 12,771 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 13,142 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +2.9%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay San Nicolas is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Gapan is a city comprising 23 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay San Nicolas, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Nueva Ecija, which contains 849 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay San Nicolas ranks 4th by 2020 population. Nueva Ecija is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

The barangay's legislative and executive affairs are handled by a Punong Barangay and the Sangguniang Barangay, elected nationwide during the Barangay and SK Elections. The next BSKE is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, following the synchronized election schedule set by COMELEC Resolution No. 11191.
