Barangay Carmen

Barangay Carmen is a large barangay in the City of Ozamiz, located in the province of Misamis Occidental, in the Northern Mindanao region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Carmen had a population of 5,902. This made it the 7th largest of 51 barangays in City of Ozamiz by population, placing it in the upper half of the city. Residents of Barangay Carmen accounted for approximately 4.21% of the total population of City of Ozamiz, which stood at 140,334 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Carmen moving from 6,135 residents to 5,902 residents, an intercensal change of -3.8%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. Barangay Carmen is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Ozamiz is a city comprising 51 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Carmen, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Misamis Occidental, which contains 490 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Carmen ranks 8th by 2020 population. The barangay's legislative and executive affairs are handled by a Punong Barangay and the Sangguniang Barangay, elected nationwide during the Barangay and SK Elections. The next BSKE is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, following the synchronized election schedule set by COMELEC Resolution No. 11191.
