Barangay Santiago Sur

Barangay Santiago Sur is a mid-sized barangay in the city of City of San Fernando, located in the province of La Union, in the Ilocos Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Santiago Sur had a population of 2,179. This made it the 19th largest of 59 barangays in City of San Fernando by population, placing it in the middle tier of the city. Residents of Barangay Santiago Sur accounted for approximately 1.73% of the total population of City of San Fernando, which stood at 125,640 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Santiago Sur changed from 1,808 to 2,179, a shift of +20.5% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in City of San Fernando. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Santiago Sur as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of San Fernando is a city comprising 59 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Santiago Sur, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
