Barangay Luyos

Barangay Luyos is a small barangay in the City of Tanauan, located in the province of Batangas, in the CALABARZON region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Luyos had a population of 1,795. This made it the 36th largest of 48 barangays in City of Tanauan by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay Luyos accounted for approximately 0.93% of the total population of City of Tanauan, which stood at 193,936 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Luyos changed from 1,631 to 1,795, a shift of +10.1% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in City of Tanauan. Barangay Luyos is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Tanauan is a city comprising 48 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Luyos, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Batangas, which contains 1,078 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Luyos ranks 604th by 2020 population. Barangay Luyos is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
