Barangay Mabua

Classified as a large barangay, Barangay Mabua is one of the administrative divisions of City of Tandag in Surigao Del Sur, Caraga, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Mabua had a population of 8,475. This made it the 1st largest of 21 barangays in City of Tandag by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay Mabua accounted for approximately 13.52% of the total population of City of Tandag, which stood at 62,669 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 6,271 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 8,475 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +35.1%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Mabua is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Tandag is a city comprising 21 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Mabua, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Surigao Del Sur, which contains 309 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Mabua ranks 5th by 2020 population. Surigao Del Sur is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

The barangay's legislative and executive affairs are handled by a Punong Barangay and the Sangguniang Barangay, elected nationwide during the Barangay and SK Elections. The next BSKE is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, following the synchronized election schedule set by COMELEC Resolution No. 11191.
