Barangay Basak

Barangay Basak is a mid-sized barangay in the municipality of Compostela, located in the province of Cebu, in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Basak had a population of 2,059. This made it the 8th largest of 17 barangays in Compostela by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Basak accounted for approximately 3.69% of the total population of Compostela, which stood at 55,874 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Basak moving from 1,773 residents to 2,059 residents, an intercensal change of +16.1%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Basak is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
