Barangay Bagong Nayon forms part of Concepcion, a municipality in Misamis Occidental, and is classified as a small barangay.

This made it the 1st largest of 18 barangays in Concepcion by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Barangay Bagong Nayon is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
