Barangay Butong

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Butong is one of the administrative divisions of Diplahan in Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga Peninsula, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Butong had a population of 895. This made it the 14th largest of 22 barangays in Diplahan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Butong accounted for approximately 2.75% of the total population of Diplahan, which stood at 32,585 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Butong moving from 867 residents to 895 residents, an intercensal change of +3.2%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Butong is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
