Situated in Dumanjug, Cebu, Barangay Cogon is one of 37 barangays that make up the municipality within Central Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Cogon had a population of 3,402. This made it the 3rd largest of 37 barangays in Dumanjug by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Cogon accounted for approximately 5.88% of the total population of Dumanjug, which stood at 57,823 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Cogon changed from 3,051 to 3,402, a shift of +11.5% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Dumanjug. Barangay Cogon is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
