Barangay Castillo

Barangay Castillo is a small barangay in the municipality of Echague, located in the province of Isabela, in the Cagayan Valley region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Castillo had a population of 1,247. This made it the 32nd largest of 64 barangays in Echague by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Castillo accounted for approximately 1.41% of the total population of Echague, which stood at 88,410 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Castillo moving from 1,057 residents to 1,247 residents, an intercensal change of +18.0%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Castillo as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Echague is a municipality comprising 64 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Castillo, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Isabela, which contains 1,055 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Castillo ranks 521st by 2020 population.
