Barangay Ilian

Situated in Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat, Barangay Ilian is one of 19 barangays that make up the municipality within SOCCSKSARGEN.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Ilian had a population of 2,737. This made it the 13th largest of 19 barangays in Esperanza by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Ilian accounted for approximately 3.66% of the total population of Esperanza, which stood at 74,696 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Ilian moving from 2,426 residents to 2,737 residents, an intercensal change of +12.8%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Ilian as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
