Barangay Poblacion

Classified as a very small barangay, Barangay Poblacion is one of the administrative divisions of Galimuyod in Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Region, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Poblacion had a population of 461. This made it the 8th largest of 24 barangays in Galimuyod by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion accounted for approximately 4.50% of the total population of Galimuyod, which stood at 10,244 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Poblacion moving from 536 residents to 461 residents, an intercensal change of -14.0%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. Barangay Poblacion is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Galimuyod is a municipality comprising 24 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Ilocos Sur, which contains 768 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Poblacion ranks 605th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
