Barangay IV (Pob.)

Barangay IV (Pob.) is a mid-sized barangay in the municipality of Garchitorena, located in the province of Camarines Sur, in the Bicol Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay IV (Pob.) had a population of 2,713. This made it the 1st largest of 23 barangays in Garchitorena by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay IV (Pob.) accounted for approximately 9.22% of the total population of Garchitorena, which stood at 29,436 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 2,756 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 2,713 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -1.6%, consistent with a broadly stable settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay IV (Pob.) as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Garchitorena is a municipality comprising 23 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay IV (Pob.), including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Camarines Sur, which contains 1,063 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay IV (Pob.) ranks 204th by 2020 population. Camarines Sur is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

Barangay IV (Pob.) is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
