Barangay Candanas

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Candanas is one of the administrative divisions of Garcia Hernandez in Bohol, Central Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Candanas had a population of 796. This made it the 16th largest of 30 barangays in Garcia Hernandez by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Candanas accounted for approximately 3.26% of the total population of Garcia Hernandez, which stood at 24,430 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 765 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 796 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +4.1%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Candanas as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Garcia Hernandez is a municipality comprising 30 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Candanas, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
